Alex Goodall
CEO
Alex Goodall is a seasoned renewables entrepreneur and the visionary Founder & CEO of Xela Energy (formerly Clean Energy Capital). With over 15 years in the clean energy sector, Alex has founded, scaled, and successfully exited two renewable businesses - both acquired by global leaders SunEdison and Statkraft. A proven innovator in the decentralised energy sector, Alex blends commercial acumen with deep industry expertise across utility-scale and distributed generation. ...
He has launched several first-of-their-kind business models, including private-wire and off-balance-sheet frameworks that have helped unlock institutional capital for the sector, delivering critical energy infrastructure and helping lay the foundations for the UK’s green transition.
As CEO of Xela Energy, Alex secured significant institutional funding from True Green Capital to support the delivery of over 750MWp of direct wire renewable infrastructure - part of a national pipeline now exceeding 5GW.Energy has since become one of the UK’s fastest-growing enterprise Independent Power Producers, delivering fully funded, technology-agnostic energy systems to blue-chip and industrial power users.
With a land-led development model, a 20+ strong specialist team, and a focus on measurable ESG outcomes, Alex is helping redefine how the UK’s largest energy users decarbonise — while improving resilience and reducing reliance on the grid.
He has been recognised as a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year and received the Green Start-Up of the Year award in 2023.

Matt Williams
CFO
A corporate finance professional specialised in valuing and funding renewable energy projects since 2005. A board member of Xela Energy since late 2022, Matt brings an extensive renewables and finance network and is responsible for all financial management including debt and equity fundraisings, valuations, reporting, payroll and accounts. In his previous role, Matt was a board member and CFO at Blue Energy, a UK onshore wind investor which had ...
an installed capacity of 6MW when he joined, but over the next 5 years funded (debt and equity) and built over 320MW of onshore wind. Prior to Blue Energy, Matt headed up project financing at Falck Renewables for a portfolio of c.400MW in the UK, France, and Spain. He joined Falck Renewables from the Environmental Infrastructure Advisory team at Ernst & Young where he trained as a CA in corporate finance.

Since co-founding the business in 2021, Sam has implemented the systems that enabled the company to be both data-led and highly scalable, now essential to the day-to-day business operations. A seasoned real-estate professional with 16 years of experience in land acquisition, development advisory and sales management. Alex Vit
Commercial Director
Alex has extensive experience in investments and energy, with a proven track record in scaling two Independent Power Producers. He began his career with several buy-side investment roles in Canada before moving to the UK to complete his MBA. At UK Power Reserve (UKPR), he played a key role in scaling the business from 160MW to over 500MW operational, expanding its portfolio through diversification of technology and strategic acquisitions. ...
